Sida spinosa, or Prickly Fanpetals, is native to the south-central US, but is found in most of the eastern half of the US, but is considered adventive there. It is an annual that grows on streambanks and pond margins, along roadsides and railroads, in fields, often on the edges, and in pastures and other open, disturbed areas. It blooms from mid summer into fakk, with yellow flowers.
This plant looks similar to some other members of the genus. More information will be posted at a later time about differentiating other species.
