Plantago aristata, or Large Bracted Plantain, is native to the Central United States, but is considered adventive in the rest of the Eastern US and some parts of the West. It is an annual that grows in dry areas, like dry prairies, gravel pits, quarries, dunes and along roadsides, and in waste or disturbed areas or rocky outcrops. It blooms from early summer into fall, with green non-showy flowers.

This plant looks similar to some other members of the genus. More information will be posted at a later time about differentiating other species.
