Phacelia tanacetifolia, or Fiddleneck, is native to the Southwestern United States, where it can be found in California, Nevada, Oregon and Colorado. It is a dainty annual that grows in open pine woods, chaparrals, foothills, fields and meadows. It blooms from early to late spring, with small light purple flowers.

This plant looks similar to some other members of the genus. More information will be posted at a later time about differentiating other species.
