Matelea decipiens, or Climbing Milkweed, is native to the Central and Southeastern US, though rare in the Southeast. It is a perennial vine that grows in open woods, glades, thickets and along woodland edges and streambanks. It blooms in late spring into early summer with dark maroon flowers.
