Hudsonia tomentosa, or Beach Heather, is native to parts of the eastern US, found mostly in the Northeast and Appalachian region, but also in parts of the Great Lakes area. It is an evergreen perennial that grows in sandy woods, or on dunes and beaches. It blooms in mid to late spring into mid summer with small yellow flowers that fade when the sun hits them.
