Elephantopus carolinianus, or Elephant's Foot, is native to the eastern half of the US, except the northern tier of states, and is not present in Iowa, or upper New England. It is a perennial that grows in low woods, pastures, along woodland edges and on stream sides. It blooms in late summer into fall with light purple flowers.
