Coreopsis basalis, or Goldenmane Tickseed, is native to the south-central US and is naturalized in the Southeast. It is a small annual plant that grows dry, sandy areas, like roadsides, clearings, prairies, fields, waste areas and disturbed areas. It blooms from late spring to late summer, with small yellow flowers that may or may not have brown centers.
This plant looks similar to some other members of the genus. More information will be posted at a later time about differentiating other species.
