Canna flaccida, or Golden Canna, is native to the southeastern US, where it is common in Florida, but is rare but also found in the adjacent states. It is a perennial tuber that grows naturally in very wet areas, like marshes, ditches, swamps, and pine savannahs, but it seems adaptable to drier garden conditions in some cases. It blooms in spring to late summer with gold-yellow flowers; the plant is only hardy to about zone 8, where it goes dormant in winter, but in the hotter regions, it remains evergreen.

More information will be made available soon about this species and telling it apart from others.
