Aronia prunifolia, or Chokeberry, is native to the Great Lakes and Appalachian areas. It is a perennial shrub that grows in moist, sandy shores, bogs, fens, wet meadows and swamps and thickets. It blooms in mid to late spring with white flowers.
More information will be made available soon about this species and telling it apart from others. Here we follow the lead of MichFlora in not distinguishing this as a hybrid, and conflate it with A. melanocarpa.
