Zizia aurea, or Golden Alexander, is native to the eastern half of the United States. It is a perennial that grows in moist or dry areas, usually in open woods, prairies, meadows, on woodland edges, and along roadsides and railroads. It blooms in mid to late spring with umbels of small yellow flowers.
