Veronica peregrina, or Purslane Speedwell, is a winter annual. It begins blooming in early spring, or sometimes even winter; the flowers tend to fade when hit by the sun, so it can be easy to miss the flowers. It can be found in the entire continental US. It grows in yards, gardens, fields and other places that are moist in the spring.

This plant can be distinguished by its early bloom time, its small white flowers, and its leaves that resemble purslane, with a succulent appearance. There are several different varieties, and so the leaves can vary from smooth to hairy.
