Verbena urticifolia, or White Vervain, is native to most of the eastern United States. It grows in moist areas, like woodland edges, wet meadows and pond and lake margins. It blooms in mid to late summer, with small white flowers on long stalks.
This species is most like its cousin Verbena hastata, which has a very similar habitat, but it can be distinguished because Verbena urticifolia has broader leaves, and when in bloom, it has white flowers, not blue-purple.
