Symphyotrichum turbinellum, or Prairie Aster, is native only to the Ozark region of Missouri, Oklahoma and Arkansas, and also southern Illinois. It might be present in Nebraska and Iowa, but is very rare if so. It is a perennial that grows in wooded slopes and bluffs, open woods and woodland edges and has purple flowers in fall.
