Symphyotrichum retroflexum, or Rigid Whitetop Aster, is native only to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee, Georgia, North and South Carolina. It is a perennial that grows in dry to moist open woods, edges of woods, and along trails and roads. It blooms in mid to late fall with purpleish flowers.
