Symphyotrichum firmum, or Glossy Leaf Aster, is native to the Northeast, Great Lakes, Appalachain area and part of Central Plains. It is a perennial that grows in swamps, bogs, moist woods and woodland edges, ditches and along roadsides. It blooms in late summer and fall with pale purple-blue flowers.
