Symphyotrichum drummondii, or Drummond's Aster, is native to the Central United States and Great Lakes region. It is a perennial that grows in dry, sandy, and rocky areas, like open woods, edges of woods, along trails and roads, and sometimes in open prairies. It blooms in late summer and fall with light purple flowers.
