Silphium perfoliatum, or Cup Plant, is native to most of the eastern half of the continental US, except parts of the Southeast. It is a perennial that grows dryish meadows, prairies, open woods and along woodland edges. It blooms in mid summer through fall with medium to large yellow-gold flowers.
