Silene stellata, or Starry Campion, is native to most of the eastern United States. It grows in open woods, as well as woodland edges. It blooms in mid summer, with white, deeply fringed flowers.
This plant can be easily identified by its white, very fringed flowers, as well as by its leaves which are in whorls of four around its stem.
