Silene regia, or Royal Catchfly, is native the Ozark region where it is most common and extends northeast also into the southern Great Lakes area, but is rare. It is a perennial that grows in moist to dryish meadows, open woods, and woodland edges. It blooms in mid to late summer with bright crimson red flowers.
