Scutellaria ovata, or Heart-Leaf Skullcap, is native to the about the southeastern half of the United States. It is a perennial that grows in mostly dry areas, such as open forests, bluffs, rocky slopes and ledges and floodplain forests. It blooms in mid summer with purple flowers.
