Sarracenia purpurea, or Purple Pitcher Plant, is native to top-tier of northeastern states, as well as down into the southeastern US, and also Washington and Alaska. It is a perennial that grows in moist bogs, fens, and associated seeps, lakeshores and other areas. It blooms in spring with purple-red flowers.
