Rhus copallinum, or Winged Sumac, is native to most of the eastern half of the US. It is a perennial shrub or small tree, that grows in dryish meadows and prairies, as well along roadsides, railroads, waste areas, and in open woods and woodland edges. It blooms in mid summer with yellow-green flowers.
