Potentilla palustris, or Marsh Cinquefoil, is native to most of the northern half of the US, and also can be found in California and parts of the Rocky Mountain area. It is a perennial that grows in swamps, marshes, bogs and fens, on shorelines and along or sometimes even in cool streams and rivers. It blooms in mid summer with red-maroon flowers.
