Polygonella articulata, or Coastal Jointweed, is an annual native to the northeastern quarter of the United States. It grows in prairies, barrens, dunes, along railroads and trails in dry sandy soil.
There are a large number of species in the Persicaria-Polygonum-Polygonella complex, but this species is rather easily identified by its jointed upper stems and its pink flowers that give way to orangish seed pods.
