Pogonia ophioglossoides, or Rose Pogonia, is native to most of the eastern United States, though it is noteably rare or absent from the middle-eastern US. It is a perennial orchid, which grows only in wet areas, like fens, bogs and the like, usually in sphagnum, but sometimes also in moist sand. It blooms in early to mid summer with beautiful pink flowers.
The plant is very distinct and is not easily confused with other orchids, or plants. It can easily be identified merely by its bloom.
