Persicaria punctata, or Dotted Smartweed, is native to just about the entire continental US. It is an annual or short-lived perennial that grows in moist areas like ditches, moist prairies and meadows, thickets, bogs, fens, floodplains, moist woods and shores. It blooms in mid summer with small white flowers.
