Oxalis violacea, or Violet Wood Sorrel, is native to the eastern half of the United States. It is a perennial that grows in open prairies and meadows as well as open woods. It blooms in mid to late spring with pink to purple flowers. It is an ephemeral, which means after blooming and setting seed, the plant disappears completely underground until the following season.
