Myosotis verna , or Spring Forget-Me-Not, is an annual native to the eastern, central and northwestern United States. It grows in open fields and prairies, as well as along woods, railroads and roads.

This plant is one of eleven species of Myosotis in the US, only four of them native. There are also similar related species in the genus Hackelia and Lappula. However, this plant is an annual, an has all white flowers, whereas almost all other species of Myosotis are either blue, or blue with a yellow center. Other species have similar flowers, but Hackelia species have taller plants, large leaves and also seeds that stick like velcro to anything, whereas Myosotis species have small black, shiny seeds.
