Liatris ligulistylis, or Rocky Mountain Blazing Star, is native to the central United States. It grows in dry, prairies, meadows and savannas, as well as rocky open woods, and blooms in mid to late summer with light purple flowers on medium stalks.

This genus is a difficult one to differentiate some of the species, but the bracts below the flowers are what can be used in most cases to correctly ID them. More information will be posted soon on telling this species apart. See the Liatris comparison photo below.
