Kalmia latifolia, or Mountain Laurel, is native only to most of the eastern third of the US, but concentrated in the Appalachian Mountain area. It is a perennial shrub that grows in moist to dryish woods, along stream banks, on cliffs, bluffs and rock formations. It blooms in spring with striking white and pink flowers.
