Helianthus maximiliani, or Maximilian's Sunflower, is native to the central United States and is adventive in most of the eastern and some of the western US. It is a perennial that grows in prairies, fields, bluffs, along roadsides, railroads and in waste places. It blooms in late summer with golden yellow flowers.
