Halenia deflexa, or Spurred Gentian, is native to parts of northern the United States, especially the Great Lakes region, but also the northeast and small populations in the Central US. It is an annual that grows in mossy, shaded woods, along trails, and on edges of bogs, fens and swamps. It blooms from mid summer into fall, with small flowers that can be purple or green.
