Delphinium tricorne, or Dwarf Larkspur, is native to the middle and southern segment of the Appalachian Mountain area, as well as west into the Ozark area. It is a perennial that grows in open woods, on woodland edges, and in open prairies. It blooms in mid to late spring, with medium-sized light to dark purple flowers. This species is an ephermeral - that means it completely disappears underground after blooming and setting seed, only to reappear again the following season.
