Cypripedium pubescens, or Greater Yellow Lady's Slipper, is one of the most common orchids, native to all but 8 states. It is, however, rarer in the western US. It is a perennial that grows in moist to dryish open woods, on woodland edges, as well as in swamps and bogs, and sometimes along roadsides and railroads, in appropriate conditions. It blooms in late spring and early summer with yellow flowers.
More information will be made available soon about this species and telling it apart from others.
