Cunila origanoides, or Dittany, is native about the southern half of the Eastern half of the US. It is a perennial that grows open forests, savannas, prairies, as well as on ledges, bluffs, along streambanks and in fields and along roadsides and railroads. It blooms in mid summer through fall with small purple flowers.
