Coreopsis leavenworthii, or Leavenworth's Tickseed, is an annual native to the extreme south; it can only be found in southern Alabama and in Florida. It grows in moist to wet woods, prairies, as well as sandhills, scrub and disturbed areas and moist, open roadsides.

There are several less common species of Coreopsis that grow in the Southern United States, among them are this species, Coreopsis leavenworthii, and then, there is the following species: Coreopsis falcata, Coreopsis floridana, Coreopsis gladiata, and Coreopsis linifolia.
