Allium tricoccum, or Ramps, is native to most of the eastern United States, except the deep southeast. It grows in rich, open woods. It first appears in early spring, but then its leaves fade away and a separate stem with blooms appears in early to mid summer, with white to cream flowers. These plants are edible, and many dig them up each spring to eat them.

Although this genus has many species in the US, it is easy to identify due to its large leaves, and the fact that its leaves fade away entirely before blooms appear.
